Trekking through the Tigers territory
The Periyar Tiger Reserve is one of the most prestigious regions on the high ranges of the Western Ghat one of the world’s most fascinating natural wild life sanctuaries. The Periyar Tiger Reserve is noted for its geomorphology diverse wild life and beautiful land scape.
Periyar is the only Tiger reserve in Kerala having a viable population of around 40 Tigers which remains as one of the most important contiguous rain forest bruding sites in the entire Western Ghats Tiger is found in type of habitats but the density is much less in the evergreen forests Trekking through the Tigers territory 40 kilometers close watch to animal habitat and nature. One may have chance to encounter much wild life like Neelgiri languor, Giant squirrel, Elephant, Bison, Deer, Birds and trek route passes through hills and valley with a variety of tropical plants and wide open spaces.
The programme is started from 8.30 am normally 20 to 35 Km are trekked in a day groups are accompany by armed forest guards including 5 guides and 2 officials with good communication equipments and geared to face any emergency situation. Tent, guides, security guards, food, camping gear, sleeping bag, torch light, mineral water will also be provided. Only vegetarian food will be provided.
